Rebecca was elected as a Labour Councillor to the City of Ely Council in 2019. She is interested in the sustainable development of Ely and environmentally friendly public transport.
As a career civil servant, Rebecca project-managed digitisation projects at The National Archives in London and later developed policy at the Department for Education’s regional headquarters in Cambridge.
More recently, Rebecca gained a first degree in Psychology with the Open University and is Secretary to Open University Psychological Society in Cambridge, which supports students’ study. Rebecca’s interest in education led her to volunteer at St John’s primary school where she now sits as a governor with responsibility for special needs on its governing body.
Rebecca and her partner moved from Cambridge to Ely fifteen years ago. They have two sons who are both in full-time education.
She currently serves on the Planning and Climate Change & Environment Committees and is the Council’s representative for the City of Ely Allotments Association and East Cambs Access Group.
