During this rapidly developing and challenging time, the City of Ely Council is following government advice regarding the coronavirus outbreak.  With great regret, the Council decided that Eel Day and the Food Festival planned for 8th-10th May 2020 will be cancelled. Oliver Cromwell House and the Tourist Information office are now closed as is The Maltings, until further notice.  However, the Oliver Cromwell House, the Tourist Information office and The Maltings venues, are regularly updating their Facebook pages, so please keep an eye on them for more information.

The Estates team will continue to provide an essential service to the community at the cemetery, the open spaces and play areas.  Regrettably, the Council has closed all of the play areas and would urge parents and carers to follow Government advice and not allow children to enter the closed play areas.

Enquiries for the City of Ely Council’s office at Sessions House should be made online or by email to info@cityofelycouncil.org.uk .  Telephone messages will be monitored periodically. The office will be closed until further notice.

The Council held an Extraordinary Full Council meeting on Monday 23rd March 2020 and agreed a strategy for managing the Council’s business.  There will be no further meetings of the Council for the foreseeable future.  The Council’s website will continue to be updated, so please continue to monitor this for changes etc.

The Council will be working to co-ordinate the community efforts being undertaken in Ely.  The Council will ensure the linking of the feeding into the other efforts happening at higher levels of government (local and national). This will ensure we bring together the volunteer efforts that will support all of us locally during this very challenging time.  We will update information on this as soon as possible.

The Council will continue to react to the situation as it unfolds and will heed to government advice.  The Mayor urges everyone to be a good neighbour and to keep an eye out for the most vulnerable members of our community.

The City of Ely Council is monitoring the national guidance and will respond to it accordingly. Please click on the link for more information.
