On Monday 13^th May 2024, in a ceremony held at the Maltings, Cllr Chris Phillips was re-elected as the Mayor of Ely. Mrs Mary Rone will serve as the Mayoress. Speaking after his appointment, the Mayor said that he was enormously proud to take on the role of Mayor for a second year and promised that he would be a conscientious and hard-working holder of the office.

He thanked all those who had helped make 2023-24 so interesting and successful a year and when outlining his priorities for the year ahead said, that with the Mayoress, his emphasis would be on ‘community’. He praised all those who worked so hard in voluntary roles in the city and said that they could be assured of continuing support from both he and the Mayoress and from the City Council.
