On behalf of City of Ely Council, we are proud to restate the Council’s commitment to its support for 20mph for Ely. The Council has maintained unanimous support for several years. Here’s why:
20mph for Ely means-
- Fewer road traffic incidents saving taxpayers’ money,
- Healthier air in the city and fewer emissions making havoc in the atmosphere and contributing to catastrophic weather events,
- Cyclists feeling more confident and choosing to leave their cars at home,
- Parents feeling confident to let their children walk or cycle all the way to school, club etc,
- A healthier community,
- Communities not being split by speeding cars transporting an inconsiderate driver from A to B,
- Reduced illegal and inconsiderate parking,
- Less congestion.
The City of Ely Council looks forward to work starting on the installation of signs and street furniture to implement 20mph for Ely.
